The Bells

This one needs no explanation: it's a bell. Made of fabric.

This was originally taken from my Small Favors pattern, which was based on the book by Erin Craig. In the book, the small-town characters had a series of bells strung throughout the edge of the forest to keep mysterious creatures at bay. I won't spoil the book, but...the bells didn't really work, because the real monsters are the ones we call our neighbors and friends.

Unlike the book, this quilt block hopefully won't keep you up at night. It's a wonderful addition to any holiday quilt (hello, Independence Day meets Christmas!) but is versatile enough to use year round.
